F.L.O.W. Holiday Crafts were back at the Nesmith Library

The Friends of the Library of Windham had a lot of fun again this holiday season coordinating holiday crafts for children. Holiday frames, napkin holders, placements, ornaments, candy dishes and much more were made with lots of glitter and glue! F.L.O.W board members were on hand lending their painting, cutting and gluing talents as well as words of encouragement for the little ones!

2012 Strawberry Festival Recap

The wet weather did not put a damper on the 29th Annual Strawberry Festival and Book Fair held this past June! The event was held at the Windham High School and had a tremendous turnout! We were able to have almost all the events run as scheduled by using the facilities at the high school. Food, games, entertainment, raffles and so much more capped off one of our most successful years of the Festival. This year the Book Fair was also held at the High School on the day of the Festival. This gave everyone a chance to purchase some great summer reads at a great price. The Book Fair was still held at the Nesmith Library for a few days prior to the Festival giving people a chance to stop by to visit our wonderful library and purchase some books prior to the Festival. As always, thank you very much to all of our dedicated volunteers who worked so well together to make the Strawberry Festival and Book Fair a successful and fun-filled event for everyone!

2012 Summer Programs

During the summer, the Friends continued to support children’s programming by sponsoring the Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Party featuring balloon animals with May Da Twista, crafts and snacks. Other programs over the summer sponsored by F.L.O.W. included “Pig Out on Reading” with Farmer Minor and Daisy the Pig (yes, a real pig visited the Nesmith Library!) and Dinoman Science featuring life-size inflatable dinosaurs. The Friends also were able to sponsor the End of Summer Reading Program Celebration featuring Joseph Scalise of Double Vision along with make your own ice cream sundaes! The Summer Reading Program was so successful this year and F.L.O.W. is thrilled to be able to support some of the wonderful programs at the Library.
